Pre-employment questionnaires

Our questionnaires act as robust, sensitive, and self-administered screening tools and are designed to gather information on candidates’ work, medical, and injury histories. It also gathers details about key lifestyle factors and include a basic psychological evaluation.

Clients have the option to implement a standardised comprehensive questionnaire or tailor individual questions to cater for their business’s requirements.

Pre-employment functional health assessment modules

Our pre-employment functional assessments are tailored to meet each role’s inherent requirements and may include:

FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENT

A comprehensive assessment of the spine, upper limbs, and lower limbs. This assessment includes a review of joint range of motion, joint stability, muscle length, muscle strength, and functional work tolerances. It also includes a basic neural screen.

POSTURAL TOLERANCE ASSESSMENT

A comprehensive assessment of postural tolerances (both static and dynamic) that are matched to a role’s inherent requirements. Postural tolerances can include sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and twisting.

MANUAL HANDLING LOADING ASSESSMENT

A functional assessment of a person’s manual handling loading ability that is matched against the role’s inherent requirements. The assessment covers the candidate’s ability to safely perform lifts and includes a review of their technique and overall tolerance to the movement.

SILICA HEALTH MEDICALS

Pre-employment silica health medicals record a baseline and examine whether a candidate is displaying signs or symptoms of exposure to respirable crystalline silica (RCS).

AUDIOMETRY (HEARING) ASSESSMENT

Audiometric assessments that measure hearing capability and screen for any hearing deficiencies that may have resulted from prior exposure to hazardous noise levels.

SPIROMETRY (LUNG FUNCTION) ASSESSMENT

Spirometry assessments that measure lung function and the degree of airflow obstruction (if any) that may be present in a candidate.

FATIGUE ASSESSMENT

The Epworth Sleepiness Scale is administered to all drivers to assess the presence of fatigue resulting from sleep-related conditions, such as sleep apnoea.

VISION ASSESSMENT

This assessment covers visual acuity and is designed for roles that require clear vision for safe performance. Colour vision can also be assessed where this is identified as an inherent role requirement.

MEDICAL ASSESSMENT

General medical tests can include a comprehensive medical questionnaire, blood pressure checks, visual checks, and height/weight checks (i.e., BMI). This module also includes screening for potential medical conditions that may substantially impact the candidate’s performance.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING

This module is designed to screen the candidate’s blood for the presence of alcohol and illicit drugs at the time of assessment. Screens are used to identify traces of Cannabis, Cocaine, Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, Benzodiazepines (benzos), and Morphine. If required, results can be sent for gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GCMS) testing if required.

PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

The Kessler 10 Psychological Screen is completed with every candidate to identify potential risks associated with anxiety and depression.
