Rapid Antigen Screening
Rapid Antigen Screening
As a global community, we have been experiencing challenging times as the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to evolve and change rapidly. With the outbreak continuing to disrupt our homes and workplaces, it’s important that we work together, to implement processes and tools that will help minimise the spread of the virus and ensure safety within our workforces, amongst our customers, and throughout the community.
Rapid Antigen Testing is the ultimate layer of protection in keeping your business open and operating safely. With testing conducted onsite and results available within 10-15 minutes, you can be rest assured that the risk of COVID-19 entering your worksite is greatly reduced.
Fast, efficient, and safe.
Exposing your workplace to even a single positive case can endanger your team and lead to costly closures and cleaning. Rapid Antigen Testing provides confidence that the potential for a COVID-positive employee entering a worksite is greatly reduced.
A tailored end-to-end solution
At Bodycare, we understand that every business looks different. What may work for one company, may not suit another. To help support all organisations, we have created a Rapid Antigen Screening Solution that can be tailored to suit the needs of any business, no matter your size, industry or location.
From policies and procedures, to getting you set up swiftly, enforcing infection control practices and recording the data from all tests – our tailored Rapid Antigen Screening solution has got you covered from start to finish.
Why Choose Rapid Antigen Screening?
- Rapid Antigen Screening enables early detection of infectious individuals, prior to them becoming symptomatic.
- Testing is conducted onsite with the supervision of a health professional.
- Highly accurate (99.3% specificity) and effective against the Delta variant.
- Real time management with instant test results (10-15 minutes, compared to 24 hours of a PCR test).
- All tests are performed with the comfort of shallow swabs (which are far less invasive to perform than standard PCR tests).
- Cost-effective and easy to administer.
- Ideal for large Workplaces, SMEs, Retailers, Schools and Events.
What is a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT)?
A Rapid Antigen Test is a TGA-approved, fast and effective way to test for COVID-19. It is used to test people with no symptoms of COVID-19, but who may be spreading the virus.
How is the test done?
See the section above for a step-by-step process on how we conduct Rapid Antigen Testing onsite at workplaces located in Australia and New Zealand.
How reliable are Rapid Antigen Tests?
Our tests have a 99.3% specificity and are TGA-approved.
What does ‘TGA-approved’ mean?
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is part of the government’s Department of Health. They are responsible for regulating therapeutic goods including prescription medicines, vaccines, sunscreens, vitamins and minerals, medical devices, and more, ensuring medical-related goods and services are safe and reliable. Our Rapid Antigen Tests are TGA-approved, making them safe to use by the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG).
What happens if an employee tests as non-negative during a Workplace Rapid Antigen Screen? Do the other employees need to return home because they were in close contact?
Our recommendation is that if an employee tests non-negative during a Rapid Antigen Test, all workers within the testing area at the time are able to continue into the workplace as normal! This is the wonderful thing about Rapid Antigen Testing; because social distancing has been maintained, workers are wearing masks correctly and all employees are being tested prior to entering the premises, there is no need to send your team home.
Is Rapid Antigen Testing a diagnostic test?
No. Rapid Antigen Testing is not a diagnostic test, but rather it is an additional risk control measure to include in an organisation’s existing and robust COVID-19 risk mitigation procedure(s).
Can Rapid Antigen Tests be used for both individuals who are symptomatic and asymptomatic?
Rapid Antigen Testing should be used for asymptomatic people only. Anyone who is demonstrating symptoms of COVID-19 must immediately have a PCR test (conducted at a local COVID-19 testing clinic) and isolate at home while awaiting results.
How are testing results stored?
Results are inputted into the My Occ Health Record app. Recording results via the app ensures quality, reduces error, keeps data safe, secures your employees’ confidential information and eliminates paper-based privacy risks.
What do I do if an employee refuses to be tested?
As is the case with any health surveillance program, it is important that the workplace has a policy to cover Rapid Antigen Testing. Employees can refuse, but in our experience, most will be grateful for the opportunity to know that they are COVID-free and safe to come to work and return home to their loved ones.
What are the risks associated with the program?
There is a small risk, due to Rapid Antigen Testing having a reduced sensitivity, that not every single case of COVID-19 will be picked up. However, by increasing the frequency of testing (ie. every two days), the testing regime is more likely to pick up positive cases.
What is a Covid Marshall?
Covid Marshalls are critical in the RAT Testing program. They are orientated to each site and are there to ensure compliance with all processes, to answer questions of employees in the lines, provide masks, provide RAT kits, supervise the test process itself, help solve problems, direct employees to the next steps and ensure employees follow rules of social distancing and are always wearing correct PPE.
