Manual Handling

Musculoskeletal injuries affect a very large portion of the workforce, from clerical staff to labourers, and results in increasing numbers of lost workdays each year.

In aiming to minimise these problems, BodyCare's Back on Board seminars offer an educational program focussing on the prevention and management of manual handling injuries, particularly back injuries, in the workplace. The structure of the program is tailored to the individual needs of the company, in light of the particular working conditions and the nature of injuries most commonly suffered by employees.

The Back on Board Seminars are interactive and educational. They are conducted by a BodyCare Physiotherapist, and are best suited for up to 15 staff members.

The seminar incorporates concepts such as:

  • The Importance of understanding manual handling
  • Basic Anatomy of common injuries
  • Common Causes of Injury
  • Appropriate management of aches/pains and injuries
  • Principles of safe lifting and bending
  • Preventing Injuries
  • Participants are encouraged to practice exercises demonstrated throughout the seminar each day as an effective means of back injury and promotion of a healthy, positive working environment.
